Lineup Sheet Error

Because of a Lineup Sheet Error in the Trail Blazers-Clippers game last night, my FanDuel lineup wound up in the – pardon my French – “Shit Happens” file.

Yesterday, I put my head together with the technology at numberFire and customized the following lineup:

Based on my calculations, those nine players would score in the neighborhood of 297.8 points – which exceeded numberFire’s projection of 268.5 points by 31 points. Like always, I believed I was in the running for some prize money.

Like Santa Clause, I checked my list once and I checked my list twice. As added insurance, I checked again about half-an-hour before tipoff. And every one of the checks assured me that all of my players were playing.

So imagine my pique when I started following the progress of the games. Every time I looked, C. J. McCollum kept showing a giant goose egg.

WTF?

As it works out, prior to the game, Portland Trail Blazers’ coach Terry Stotts mistakenly placed C. J. McCollum’s name on the list of Inactive Players. As a result, McCollum sat out the game.

In effect, I was playing with eight players instead of nine – and you can guess the results.

That’s right. Pardon my French once again – but I lost my ass. In fact, 70% of the players in my pool lost their asses because they too placed McCollum in their lineups.

I can deal with the loss because I did everything within my power and lost due to circumstances beyond my control. Let’s get ‘em tonight.
