An all american boy stopped by the house yesterday.
It was my favorite grandson. His name’s Zack – Zack Bowe. This isn’t the way he spells his name, but it’s the way I like to see it. So that’s the way I write it. When spoken, his spelling and my spelling come out the same way.
Anyway, he was here to help get the ornamentals into the ground.
Putting them in a little late this year due to the prolonged cold weather that ended recently. The cold also retarded the emergence of my banana trees. Only ten shoots so far and none in the main growing area. Hope that area comes alive soon because I’m anticipating at least fifty plants.
About ten minutes into weeding and digging, the favorite grandson says:
“Pop, I just found out I was nominated for the All-American team.”
The kid plays lacrosse at Rosemont College. He’ll be entering his senior year come September, so he’s got another year of eligibility left.
I know he was #1 in the nation at winning faceoffs – or whatever they call the scrum in lacrosse – with just a week or two left in the season. Not sure if he held that position – or not. But it doesn’t matter. He’s really good at it.
There were a couple of times during the season that I heard fans from the other team comment about how good he was. So it’s not just me.
He also made all-conference.
So I just wanta say two things to him right now:
- Congratulations on the nomination.
- Bring an extra set of clothes next week because you’re gonna be painting the shutters.
In addition to being the official Eagles Outsider for BlameMyFather.com, Barry Bowe is also the author of:
- Born to Be Wild
- 1964 – The Year the Phillies Blew the Pennant
- 12 Best Eagles QBs
- Birth of the Birds
- Soon-to-be-published sexy, police procedural Caribbean Queen
- Soon-to-be-published novel Stosh Wadzinski
- Soon-to-be-published novel Polish Widow
