Eagles Traded Shady McCoy

I’ve been predicting that Shady McCoy would not be an Eagle come next season since the 2014 season ended. An hour ago, my prediction came true.

The Eagles traded Shady McCoy to the Buffalo Bills in exchange for linebacker Kiko Alonso – who played for Chip Kelly at Oregon.

Kiko Alonso is 6-3, 238 pounds, and 24 years old. He was the Defensive MVP in the 2012 Rose Bowl and was selected in the second round of the NFL draft by the Bills with the 46th overall pick.

After a fine rookie season in 2013 at strong-side linebacker, Bills GM Doug Whaley announced that Alonso would be moved to the weak side in 2014. But he tore an ACL while working out at Oregon during the off-season and missed all of 2014.

Hopefully for the Eagles, he’ll be 100% for 2015. The Eagles already have a linebacker coming off season-ending surgery – or do they?

Perhaps this deal means that the Eagles won’t bring DeMeko Ryans back into the fold.

In tomorrow’s report – which is already written – I once again predicted that Shady wouldn’t be an Eagle next season. Personally, as I said, I don’t like Shady’s Dancing With the Stars running style – & I don’t think Chip Kelly liked it either.

By NFL rules, the trade will not be official until March 10 at 4 p.m. EDT.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter was one of the first writers to break the story.

What I’m trying to figure out now is – was this move a foreshadowing of a trade that would send Nick Foles to Tampa or Tennessee in exchange for the rights to draft Chip Kelly’s heartthrob Marcus Mariota.

Stay tuned.
