From the Desk of Eagles Outsider Barry Bowe
“BJ” By Any Other Name
Was Jessica McCloughan just blowing off steam?
Or was ESPN’s Dianna Russini – pardon my French – blowing Jessica’s husband who happens to be Washington Redskins GM Scot McCloughan?
Wednesday’s headline on the website thebiglead.com shouted out “Wife of Redskins GM’s Tweets About ‘BJ’s’ to ESPN Reporter, Deletes Her Account.”
Interesting how “BJ’s” is more acceptable than “Blow-Jobs” when the two terms mean exactly the same thing. I mean, you can call a blow-job a BJ, but we all know what you mean.
Gone are the days when you could call a spade a spade. But I digress.
Jessica McCloughan is indeed the wife of Redskins GM Scot McCloughan and she did indeed accuse Dianna Russini of – pardon the French once again – blowing her husband. She originally sent the tweet on August 18th – which was in reference to Russini breaking the news that Redskins coach Jay Gruden was planning to start Kirk Cousins at quarterback instead of Bobby Griffin.
Jessica’s tweet didn’t become public until yesterday (Wednesday, September 2nd.)
The Redskins, of course, immediately denied the “rumor” and said the tweet was initiated from a fake account and that NFL Security would be investigating the issue.
Seems the Redskins thought they could cover it up because Jessica McCloughan tweeted on a protected account that could only be seen individuals she approved. So Jessica McCloughan’s protected Twitter account was taken down immediately. But one of the approved individual’s had already screen-captured the tweet below:
So, alas and alack, the Redskins had to come clean and admit that Jessica McCloughan had indeed posted a vulgar remark about her husband and Dianna Russini.
And while ESPN supported their reporter, both the Redskins and Jessica McCloughan issued scripted apologies. Below is Jessica’s apology which was released by the Redskins:
“I deeply apologize for the disparaging remarks about an ESPN reporter on my personal Twitter account. The comment was unfounded and inappropriate, and I have the utmost respect for both the reporter and ESPN. I regret that my actions have brought undeserved negative attention to the Redskins organization and its leadership. My comments in no way reflect the opinions or attitudes of the organization and I regret that my behavior has in any way negatively impacted the team and its loyal fan base.”
Not the First Time
But this wasn’t the first time Jessica McCloughan accused Dianna Russini of sexual impropriety with her husband. The tweets below appeared on August 13th.
Just wondering about the validity of the smoke and fire cliché.
Russini and Tebow
I wrote about Dianna Russini back on March 18th – “Tim Tebow an Eagle?” – when she predicted that the Eagles were going to sign Tim Tebow. I didn’t believe it was possible.
While Eagles insider at the time Sheil Kapadia disagreed with Dianna’s premise, he didn’t exactly pooh-pooh the possibility that Tim Tebow could become an Eagle.
So Dianna and Sheil were right and I was wrong.
But whether or not Tim Tebow remains an Eagle just might be proven tonight when the Birds take on the New York Jets in the fourth and final exhibition game. Between you and me, I think Chip’s already decided on Tebow as his third-string quarterback.
Can’t wait to see what happens.
Coincidence
By the way, just found out today that Sheil Kapadia is now covering the Seahawks for ESPN. Sheil is both smart and thorough – and I mean thorough in its fullest context. He’ll do an excellent job in Seattle for sure – but I’ll miss his coverage of the Eagles.
Sheil, in case you didn’t notice, I’m now the official Eagles Outsider here at BlameMyFather.com.
