From the Desk of Eagles Outsider Barry Bowe
I believe the Eagles crush Giants today in the swamps of North Jersey.
Why?
Several reasons: With the weight of the world – caused by the oppressive style of Chip Kelly – suddenly and dramatically removed from their shoulders – I believe the bulk of the players will come out with a spiteful, we’ll-show-the-world-who-the-problem-was attitude and – pardon my French – kick the living shit out of the Giants.
I believe Pat Shurmur – with the handcuffs removed – wants to put a win on his head-coaching résumé. Therefore, he’ll make adjustments such as:
- Running plays with the quarterback under center.
- Thus maximizing DeMarco’s Murray’s skills as a running back.
- Thus using play-action passes to advantage.
- Throwing slants over the middle – the kind that have been so successful all season against the Eagles.
- Allowing Sam Bradford to audible out of potentially bad defensive setups.
Two weeks ago, I predicted blowouts in the games against the Cardinals and the Redskins – and was prepared to do the same this week against the Giants. But with Jeff Lurie – pardon my French once again – growing some balls and firing Chip Kelly on Monday past, all that changed.
Disclaimer: The Giants might also be fired up since this could be Tom Coughlin’s last game as coach and Odell Beckham Jr. could also be in I’ll-show-you mood, the game might be close. But I believe the Eagles will prevail.
