Get Shorty TV Series

Dan O’Dowd and Sean Bridges are great in the Get Shorty TV Series.

Get Shorty TV Series

Donald Moore turned me onto the Get Shorty TV series (2017-2019) yesterday.

Watched two episodes last night & one this morning – like it – but knew I would since the story’s written by my favorite crime writer Elmore Leonard – and I saw the 1993 movie.

Probably take me a week to get through it.

TV series like this have two benefits for actors – (1) experienced actors like Ray Ramano – loved him in every episode of Everybody Loves Raymond & The King of Queens – both from 1996-2005 – get another go-around – in his case he also gets a chance to redeem themselves by taking a role in 2019’s dreadful production of The Irishman.

(2) – Unknown actors – at least unknown to me – like Chris O’Dowd (58 credits but nothing I’ve seen) – and Sean Bridges (74 credits but nothing I’ve seen) – get starring roles to display their talent – they’re both good.

Little disappointed that only one guest star so far – Alan Arkin – turns 87 next month – almost didn’t recognize him.

Several similarities to Ray Donovan – O’Dowd is Irish – he and Sean Bridges do dirty work just like Ray – more examples of the sexual depravity common with Hollywood folk as a male star hires a male prostitute to pleasure him in his makeup trailer.

IMDB describes 2017’s Get Shorty TV series like so: “The adventures of a mobster-turned-movie producer in Hollywood. TV show based on Elmore Leonard’s novel and subsequent film.”

It’s good.

I’m America’s Best Crime Writer

and I approve this message.

Warner Books published Born to Be Wild in 1992 & it still sells every day at Amazon & Kindle. True story about certain members of the Warlocks motorcycle gang.

The story takes 21 years to play out – with many twists & turns – an amalgam of Sons of Anarchy & Breaking Bad – but these outlaw bikers make the Sons look like Cub Scouts.
