The Great Train Robbery
The Great Train Robbery is a 1978 adventure crime drama starring Sean Connery, Donald Sutherland, and a miscast Lesley-Anne Downe. She plays the sex-kitten in this movie ─ but if any red-blooded man one out there thinks she’s sexy, I question your standards.
The movie’s set in England during the 1850s. As a rule, I neither like period pieces nor Brit movies. But the title with Sean Connery and Donald Sutherland starring in the movie hooked me and made me give it a try.
A master criminal plots to rob a train with a huge cargo of gold bullion headed for the Crimean ─ like I give a fuck about a peninsula on the northern coast of the Black Sea. Security on the train, of course, is incredibly tight, and the task, of course, seems impossible. However, of course, the train robbers succeed.
Even when I ripped the writers from Better Call Saul the other day, I prefaced my remarks by saying that Better Call Saul is my favorite TV Crime Series ever. That’s not the case with The Great Train Robbery. I thought the movie was awful. Neither Sean Connery nor Donald Sutherland were up to par. Watch The Great Train Robbery at your own risk ─ sorry I wasted my time.
Pretty sure this is the first movie I ever ripped on this site.
I’m America’s Best Crime Writer – Barry Bowe – & I approve this message.
My first book – Born to Be Wild – was published in 1992 and is still selling on Amazon & Kindle. it’s a true story about certain members of the Warlocks motorcycle gang.
The story took 21 years to play out with many twists & turns. It’s an amalgam of Sons of Anarchy and Breaking Bad – but these outlaw bikers make the Sons look like Cub Scouts.
