The Flyers Jake Voracek scored a hat trick in last night’s NHL All-Star Game, he added three assists, and his team won 17-12 – but he was snubbed by the fans. He was not voted the game’s MVP. It was the 60th NHL All-Star Game and the game was played in Columbus, Ohio. The 29 goals set a new record.
Instead of Voracek, the fans selected the Columbus Blue Jackets’ own center Ryan Johansen, who tallied two goals and two assists in a losing effort.
Once again – just like the NFL now does for its Pro Bowl, the NHL uses a lame system of having two former players pick the teams. This year it was Johnathan Toews and Nick Foligno who acted as coaches, or captains, or whatever they’re supposed to be. In any case, the concept adds no interest for me whatsoever. In fact, seems awkward to me – like the Toews beat the Folignos 17-12.
I did not watch any part of the game.
