The Phillies game with the Cardinals scheduled for Connie Mack Stadium on Wednesday, May 13, 1964, was rained out.

Rain-out aside, the Phillies conducted some business.

To replace Durne, the Phillies activated 14-year veteran Cal McLish from the Disabled List.

McLish was a 14-year major-league veteran – having logged time with the Brooklyn Dodgers, Pittsburgh Pirates, Chicago Cubs, Cleveland Indians, Cincinnati Reds, and Chicago White Sox.

His best season was in 1959 with the Indians when he went 19-and-8 and made the All-Star team.

Meanwhile at Colt Stadium in Houston, the Colt 45s Ken Johnson (3-3) and Tom Woodeshick combined to give up only five hits in a 2-1 victory over the first-place Giants. Bob Hendley took the loss – which cut the Giants lead to a game-and-a-half over both the Phillies and the Cardinals.
