Pizza driver shoots armed carjacker in Kensington

The plan’s simple. Wait for a pigeon to get out of his car. Walk up, stick a gun in his face, and say “Give me your keys.” Then get in and drive away. But this pigeon was armed.

Two things are happening more often in Philadelphia in 2022. Carjackings are already over 100, and the number of would-be carjackers getting shot is also on the rise.

The latest incident happened in the 3300 block of H Street in Kensington around 7:30 on Thursday night.

A 35-year-old armed carjacker approached a 39-year-old pizza delivery man, stuck a gun in his face, and demanded his car keys.

This rings three bells with me. One, I’m in Kensington a couple times a week. Two, I used to deliver pizza. And three, thugs tried to rob me twice. So I can relate to the incident.

But the armed carjacker didn’t anticipate the driver also being armed. The driver pulled a gun, fired several rounds at the carjacker, and hit his target six times.

Somehow the thug survived. He was transported to Temple Hospital in critical condition.

What would I do in that situation?

Retaliate with extreme vengeance and hope all the target practice was worth it.

What would you do?
