Grand Opening
Royal Farms opened in on MacDade Boulevard in Glenolden the other day – and I’ve been there three times:
- Stopped for gas Tuesday morning because the gas pumps at the nearby Wawa were all taken. Filled up at Royal Farms. No Problem. Plenty of open pumps.
- Stopped in with the family on Tuesday night – but it was so busy we left without getting anything.
- Stopped today (Thursday) after 2 p.m. to give their ultra-hyped chicken a try. I realize it’s the Grand Opening, but I picked a time when it wasn’t that busy. Ordered a two-piece white-meat chicken and mashed potatoes.
My order – #692 – seemed simple enough. But Royal Farms – pardon my French – fucked up my order royally. Pun intended.
Instead of two pieces of white meat and mashed potatoes, I found the following waiting for me when I arrived home:
- One breast of chicken.
- Two wings.
- One roll.
Huh?
Where the – more French – where the fuck were my mashed potatoes?
Instead of mashed potatoes, they gave me a roll that didn’t look the least bit appetizing.
I did gnaw on the wings and I ate the breast. The meat was good – but a tad too salty for my taste even though I removed the battered and deep-fried skin.
I tossed the roll in the garbage with the uneaten skin and bones.
Oh, yeah, I didn’t mention the price. The price was $7.93 – which I found slightly more than expected.
Disclaimer – I can’t remember the last time I bought chicken from a fast-food joint, so I have no idea about the going rates. So maybe the $7.93 was pricey – and maybe it wasn’t.
Bottom Line for Now
I’ll give Royal Farms another try or two. They had a few things on the menu that sounded good.
In the meantime I’m debating whether or not I should complain next time I stop in. Anyone who knows me well knows how I hate to complain about anything.
