Undefeated Watch Week 14

From the Desk of Eagles Outsider Barry Bowe

eagles outsider imageWeek 14 started and ended with the Carolina Panthers as the only undefeated team remaining in the NFL.

The 13-&-oh Panthers spanked the Falcons 38-0 on Sunday in an outcome that was never in doubt – and whatever happened to that team that started the season 5-0 with wins over the Eagles, Giants, Cowboys, Texans, and Redskins? The Falcons are now 6-and-7 and seem doomed to miss the playoffs.

The Panthers jumped ahead 21-0 with three first-quarter TDs and never looked back:

  • Jonathan Stewart – 1-yard run
  • Ted Ginn Jr. – 74-yard pass from Cam Newton
  • Ted Ginn Jr. – 46-yard pass from Cam Newton
  • Graham Gano added the three PATs

The win clinched a first-round bye.

Cam Newton was outstanding once again – 15-for-21 for 265 yards and three TDs without and INT. His QB Rating was 153.3.

Newtown and the Panthers were so dominating that Ron Rivera sent Derek Anderson in to finish the game at quarterback.

The Panthers have three games remaining:

  1. Dec 20 – @ Giants
  2. Dec 27 – @ Falcons
  3. Jan 3 – Buccaneers at home

I’m hoping the Panthers lose at least once before the playoffs begin. And when that happens, I’ll crack open a bottle of Andre and savor it.

If not, I can wait until the playoffs because there’s no way the Panthers win the Super Bowl.
