Undefeated Watch Week 15

From the Desk of Eagles Outsider Barry Bowe

eagles outsider imageWeek 15 started with the Carolina Panthers as the only undefeated team remaining in the NFL and looked to stay that way when the Panthers jumped out to a 21-7 lead at the half.

Cam Newton added a pair of exclamation points in the third quarter . . .

  • 37-yard TD pass to Greg Olsen
  • 14-yard TD pass to Devin Funchess

. . . and it was 35-7 Panthers – and the Giants looked whipped.

But, somehow, the Giants rallied – despite a brutal interception by Eli Manning and a bad fumble by Rashad Jennings – and next thing you know it’s 35-35 with 2:31 remaining in the game.

At that point I’m rooting hard for the Giants to stop Newton and win the game.

But Cam Newton methodically moved his team into field-goal range and Graham Gano kicked a 43-yard field goal with 0:00 showing on the scoreboard – Panthers 38 – Giants 34.

The Panthers are now 14-and-oh and one step closer to finishing the regular season undefeated. I believed that the Panthers would lose at least two games, but it doesn’t look like that’s going to happen now. I’ll take one loss – but they should be heavy favorites in their last two games. In either case, I don’t see the Panthers winning the Super Bowl.

So I believe I’m definitely going to be sipping Andre between now and February.

The Panthers two remaining games:

  1. Dec 27 – @ Falcons
  2. Jan 3 – Buccaneers at home
