What good’s having a website for Philly sports if you can’t post something about your favorite grandson?
No good.
Just got a text from Zach Bowe – the favorite grandson in question – and as it works out his lacrosse team not only wins its first game of the season, but also Zach Bowe scores a goal.
His team is Rosemont College, and the win upped the Ravens’ record to 1-4 on the new season. The 7-6 victory came at the expense of the Alvernia Crusaders (3-4) Wednesday night in Reading, PA.
Stephen Licata picked up a hat-trick for the winners. Rasool Smith scored a pair of goals, and my favorite grandson and Anthony Bottoms scored once each.
Kiefer Paul saved seven of 13 shots-on-goal to pick up the win in net.
After jumping out to 5-2 lead at the end of the first half, Rosemont had to withstand a fierce second-half rally to walk away with the win. According to Rosemont’s official write-up, “A key to keeping Rosemont in control was the play of (Zach) Bowe in the faceoff circle. Bowe won the first 13 straight face-offs of the contest and won 14-of-16 overall.”
Good to hear.
By the way, Yours Truly will be in attendance on Saturday when the Ravens host – just gotten word that Saturday’s game will be played at Cabrini College at 2 p.m. It is the team’s first CSAC conference game of the season.
Congratulations, kid. Keep up the good work, and I’ll see you on Saturday.
