- Manny Mota singled and took second when Roberto Clemente reached base on Richie Allen’s error.
- Jerry Lynch hit a three-run homer (#8) to start and end the scoring at 3-0.
Bob Friend (8-8) tossed a seven-hit shutout.
Jim Bunning (9-4) gave up just four hits and three runs – two of them earned – as he absorbed the loss.

The Giants lost to the Braves for the second straight time – Rico Carty (#10) and Eddie Mathews (#13) hitting home runs for the Braves. Which meant the Giants maintained their one-game lead over the Phillies.
