Swag from Farzie

bmf imageI got some swag from Farzie Sunday afternoon – Farzie being one Marc Farzetta.

He’s one of my favorite WIP on-air personalities and I’ve communicated with him for a few years via calling into his show and on social media. But this was our first face-to-face meeting. And I’ve gotta tell ya something: that Marc Farzetta is one handsome man. And I say that with no gay implications whatsoever – not that there’s anything wrong with that.

Marc was representing WIP at the Italian Festival in South Philly Sunday afternoon. Since we have a family brunch every Sunday morning at my favorite son Ed Bowe’s house at 19th & Wolf, it was an easy hop to Passyunk & Mifflin to meet up with Marc. Making it easier was finding a parking spot just a block away on my first go-round.

Getting back to the swag from Farzie, he had me spin that WIP prize wheel. Don’t remember where the wheel landed, but Farzie hooked me up with a veritable mountain of swag:

  1. First was a plastic cup – like the plastic cups you might get at Wawa, but not the Big Gulp size. This one was the size normal people use. And, yes, thank goodness, there were about a dozen logos of Philly radio and TV stations on the cup in case one ever slips my mind and I need a quick reminder.
  2. Inside that cup was a nifty Phillies schedule.
  3. And an Eagles-green beer holder. I’d call it a koozie – but I don’t know how to spell koozie.
  4. There was also a nifty ballpoint pen – retractable of course – and I put that to use as soon as I got back in the car.
  5. And last-but-not-least – with a little prodding on my part – Marc threw in a mini-football in Eagles green and white.

Let me do a quick mental calculation here – uh, umm – I estimate the true cash-value of my swag to be a good 79 cents . . . or so. But financial windfall aside, it’s the thought that counts – and it was great meeting Marc.

Maybe someday I’ll meet Jon Johnson or Rickie Ricardo or Joe Giglio or Hollis Thomas or Glen Macnow or even Sludge. Didn’t mention Jody Mac because I met him about twenty years ago. And I didn’t mention Rob Charry until now because he almost slipped my mind.

The above-mentioned are my favorites.

Oh – almost left out Howard. How could Eskin slip my mind? Because he’s not on the air much anymore. But he’s definitely on my list of favorites.

Thanks for the swag, Marc – and as your idol Frank Sinatra might say – Memories Are Made of This.
